An Arizona Woman Sentenced to Jail Time and Prohibited from Flying After Assaulting TSA Agents
A woman from Arizona has received a four-month prison sentence for attacking three TSA agents at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport last year.
Ma’Kiah Cherae Coleman, 20, from Glendale, Arizona, admitted to her guilt earlier this year for the assault that occurred on April 25, 2023. According to a press release from the TSA, she was charged for injuring a federal officer, and this type of offense could potentially lead to a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, fines up to $250,000, and three years of supervised release.
During her attempt to pass through a security checkpoint in Terminal D, Coleman allegedly grabbed one officer by the hair, “forcing the officer’s head down against a table,” and then punched the officer multiple times in the head. Additionally, she is accused of elbowing another officer and “biting the hair” of a third officer who tried to help her.
According to Arizona’s Family, Coleman became upset because her apple juice was being taken away.
The altercation resulted in a brief closure of the airport security checkpoint.
After serving her time, Coleman will be under three years of supervised release and is not allowed to fly on commercial airlines during that period.
