Ringo Starr, former Beatles member, cancels New York, Philadelphia tour dates due to health issues

Former Beatles drummer and current rock icon Ringo Starr has unexpectedly canceled the last two performances of his nationwide tour after experiencing a cold, as announced by Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band on Tuesday.

“Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band regret to announce the cancellation of their final two shows, including this evening’s concert at TD Pavilion at The Mann in Philadelphia, PA, and the following night at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, due to illness,” the band’s Instagram post stated. “Ringo is unwell with a cold and has been advised by his doctor to rest and cancel these shows,” it added.

Canceled shows will not be rescheduled

The concerts initially set for Tuesday, September 24, at the TD Pavilion in Philadelphia and Wednesday, September 25, at Radio City Music in New York will be canceled without plans for rescheduling, as announced. Ticket holders will receive notifications via email and will be automatically refunded.

Ringo, 84, kicked off the 12-date tour on September 7 in San Diego, CA, alongside band members Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart, Gregg Bissonette, and Buck Johnson. “As always, Ringo and the All-Starrs wish peace and love to their fans, hoping to see them again soon,” said the message from the band.

Fan reactions to the canceled shows

“PLEASE reschedule! I can’t wait another million years for another tour,” one fan pleaded. “I’ve been longing to see you, please reschedule,” another stated.

“I’m disappointed that we won’t see him tonight, but more than anything, we want him to be healthy and happy! Get well soon, Ringo,” one popular comment read, with another expressing, “I’m very disappointed, but your health is the priority. Always in my heart.”

Starr has been performing with various members of his All Starr Band since 1989 and released a new EP titled “Crooked Boy” in April of this year.
