Kris Kristofferson remembered by country music stars Dolly Parton and others: ‘What a profound loss’


Kris Kristofferson was a beloved figure in the world of country music.

 

The legendary singer-songwriter and actor, famed for hits like “Me and Bobby McGee,” “For the Good Times,” and “Sunday Morning Comin’ Down,” passed away at his home in Maui, Hawaii on Saturday at the age of 88. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Dolly Parton, another country music icon, expressed her sorrow on Instagram following Kristofferson’s death. They had collaborated on a 1982 rendition of Parton’s song “Put It Off Until Tomorrow.”

“Such a tremendous loss. An incredible writer. An outstanding actor. A dear friend,” Parton shared. “I will always cherish and love you.”

Despite describing his own voice as sounding “like a frog,” Kristofferson released more than 20 studio albums in his lifetime and earned three Grammy Awards.

 

Many other country artists joined Parton to pay tribute to Kristofferson’s musical contributions through heartfelt social media posts.
