Kristin Cavallari is speaking out about her recent breakup.

The 37-year-old founder of Uncommon James discussed her split from 24-year-old Mark Estes on her podcast “Let’s Be Honest.” Cavallari revealed that she ended the relationship because she recognized that “in the long run, it wasn’t meant to be” and began to feel the impact of their 13-year age difference and varying life experiences.

Although Cavallari described Estes as the “best boyfriend I’ve ever had,” she emphasized that “he needs to go out and experience life.”

“When I think back to when I was 24, so much happened for me during those years. Those years are critical for personal growth. That’s when you truly find yourself. He needs the opportunity to do that.”

Cavallari clarified that this decision wasn’t a sudden epiphany; she has “always been conscious” of their age difference. However, she views this relationship as “probably the best of my life” and believes that Estes “will make someone incredibly happy in the future” and “will have a lovely family of his own.”

“I believe that one day, he will appreciate my decision, and I truly think that he’ll thank me later on,” she mentioned. “That’s the perspective you don’t have at 24.”

Cavallari initially disclosed her relationship with Estes earlier this year when they made it official on Instagram. “He brings me happiness,” she previously expressed. The announcement attracted immediate scrutiny regarding their age difference, but Cavallari responded with a TikTok video, lip-syncing to the phrase, “So what are you gonna do about it?” She captioned the video, “When people are upset that I’m dating a 24-year-old. Andddd?”

The “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” star recently announced her breakup during a guest appearance on “Call Her Daddy” with host Alex Cooper, mentioning that the split was “very recent.”

During her podcast episode, Cavallari emphasized that the breakup wasn’t due to any major falling out between them. She described these types of breakups as particularly challenging. “It’s almost easier when there’s something that makes you resent the other person,” she added, mentioning that Estes has been “nothing but kind and supportive.”

She noted that their timing was “off,” explaining that Estes would be “perfect” for her if he were “45 and already had two kids.”

Reflecting on the situation, Cavallari said she has no regrets about the relationship, including making it public and involving her children. She also mentioned that she hopes they can stay friends moving forward. For now, Cavallari has “no plans to jump back into the dating scene.”

The “Very Cavallari” star was once married to quarterback Jay Cutler, with whom she has three children. In June, she shared on her podcast that the stress from an unhappy marriage had caused her to become “very thin.”

“I was just skin and bones,” she reflected. “I think I look so much better now. Honestly, that was just stress from being in a really unhappy marriage. I was truly unhappy.”
