Mastering the Art of DNA Droplet Division: Paving the Way for Synthetic Cells

A time-delay circuit enables precise control over the division of synthetic DNA droplets, which mimic biological Liquid-Liquid Phase Separation (LLPS) droplets found in cells. By utilizing a combination of microRNAs (miRNAs) and the enzyme RNase H, researchers have successfully regulated the timing of droplet division. This breakthrough paves the way for creating artificial cells with

2024 Toyota Tacoma Transmission Issues Unveiled: Acknowledged by the Automaker

Toyota acknowledges transmission issues in the 2024 Tacoma

If you’re an active participant in Toyota discussions online, you might have seen several owners of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma expressing frustrations about troublesome transmissions. The issues appear to primarily concern those with the eight-speed automatic transmission, which can be disappointing for buyers of a brand-new vehicle.

Toyota has confirmed the problem and is taking steps to address it, albeit in a limited way. As reported by CarScoops, the company is replacing defective eight-speed transmissions in certain 2024 Tacoma models. This is not classified as a safety recall but rather a technical service bulletin sent to dealerships. Toyota does not view this as a safety matter and will only replace transmissions that have already failed.

To be eligible for the replacement, the Tacoma must show at least one of six specific fault codes when checked with a diagnostic tool at a dealership.

Here are the fault codes:

  • P07407F
  • P079571
  • P08BA71
  • P271371
  • P280771
  • P281671

According to the codes discussed in a forum, it appears the issue stems from a stuck pressure control solenoid actuator or a frozen torque converter clutch actuator. If your Tacoma has one of these codes, Toyota will replace the complete transmission and torque converter setup.

Trucks equipped with manual transmissions are not experiencing these issues, so if your Tacoma has a manual setup, you can be at ease. However, if you own a truck affected by these problems, a solution is on the way. The key concern now is understanding the extent of the issue and how long repairs might take, as changing out a transmission is not typically a fast process, even for skilled technicians with the right tools. It would be wise to contact your local dealership promptly to avoid potential delays.

Despite the troubling transmission issues, our initial drive of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma left a positive impression. We found it to be a significant leap forward from the previous model, retaining the desirable characteristics that Tacoma buyers appreciate. We still endorse the vehicle, but it might be better to wait until Toyota resolves the transmission concerns, or alternatively, consider opting for the manual transmission, which is becoming rare in midsize trucks.
