Hannah and Nick Draw Parallels Between Their Love Story and the Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce Romance

Hannah and Nick of ‘Love is Blind’ liken their love story to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Warning: This article contains spoilers from the first six episodes of Season 7 of Netflix’s “Love is Blind,” which is currently available for streaming.

“Love is Blind” presents a unique challenge for its couples, as they must adjust to meeting face-to-face after developing their connections behind a blue wall, without visual cues.

For Nick Dorka, 29, a real estate agent, and Hannah Jiles, 27, a medical device sales representative, this difficulty became apparent after they expressed their self-images while in the pods.

After their “reveal” where Nick proposes in person during Episode 5, Hannah appeared a bit uncomfortable even after sharing kisses and declarations of love, as she leaned away from him while resting her hand and crossing her arms.

Later, she remarked, “In the pods, he said he was a football player — bigger, medium build, like 5-foot-11. But I don’t think that’s entirely accurate.” Hannah expressed, “That makes me feel somewhat insecure because I think I might be bigger than him.”

Meanwhile, Nick describes her as “incredibly beautiful” and shares, “I’m so in love with you, and I can’t wait to spend all my time with you.”

In a recent interview with YSL News before the Wednesday premiere, Nick expressed confusion as to why Hannah would question his honesty and pointed out that many participants often misjudge how their pod partners might appear.

“When you spend two weeks getting to know someone, you start to build a mental picture of their appearance. Then, during the reveal, it often differs significantly from what you pictured,” he explained. “I’d say most of the time, you are way off the mark.”

He continued, “Honestly, I didn’t worry about looks. Hannah and I shared a deep connection. If she felt that way, that’s unfortunate, but we truly connected.”

Hannah and Nick liken their relationship to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Unlike some couples who kept personal facts like their races and body types to themselves, Nick and Hannah were more open, hinting at their physical appearances.

In the first episode, after discovering Hannah was a cheerleader and Nick played football in high school and college, Hannah remarked, “I’ll be your Taylor Swift, and you can be my Travis Kelce.”

“Honestly, I’m a bit better looking than Travis,” Nick laughed. “But to be fair, he might be a bit better looking than Taylor, too.” He even compared himself to a toned-down version of Henry Cavill, who Hannah identifies as one of her celebrity crushes.

Nick shared, “It can be challenging to express personal interests when you say, ‘I enjoy working out.’ Naturally, my football history surfaces.” He explained how people might create a mental picture of what he looks like based on his words.

After some time spent with Nick during their honeymoon post-engagement, Hannah’s concerns about his appearance seemed to fade. She noted that her typical type is “the really big, jock guy, 6-foot-5, handsome, the best-looking guy in the room.”

However, she warmed up to Nick quickly, aligning the voice from their ten days in the pods with his physical appearance.

“He has been incredibly kind, gentle, and funny, making me feel comfortable. If things continue like this, I would definitely marry him tomorrow,” she said while at the Cabo San Lucas resort designed for the newly engaged couples.

Hannah felt no love-bombing from Nick

For someone who has stated, “I’ve never truly been in love in a romantic way,” it’s intriguing that by the time Nick proposes in Episode 4, he identifies Hannah as his “true love.”

Both of them express their feelings openly, with Hannah mentioning to the other women in Episode 1 that she believes Nick is “the love of my life.”

During their time in the pods, Nick expresses his intention to shower Hannah with compliments once they’re in Cabo: “When you step out of the shower all dolled up and looking amazing, I will come up from behind, wrap my arms around you, give you a kiss on the neck, and tell you you’re the most beautiful girl in the world.”

“I don’t even need to see you, Hannah. You’re already stunning and incredibly sexy to me,” Nick emphasizes.

But does this behavior seem like love-bombing? Hannah doesn’t believe so.

“Love bombing is a real thing. However, in this unique environment, emotions run high, and conversations dive deeper much faster. It doesn’t feel like love-bombing; rather, it’s just a heightened emotional state that occurs early on,” she shared with YSL News. “I never felt love-bombed by Nick.”

Hannah is ‘happy’ she confided in Brittany about her confrontation with Leo

Hannah came close to not getting engaged to Nick because of her complicated relationships with art dealer Leo Braudy, 31, and his other love interest, Brittany Wisniewski, a 33-year-old esthetician.

Ultimately, Hannah decides to end things with Leo to fully focus on Nick. In Episode 4, Leo pleads with her to give him time to make a decision between the two women and insists on knowing if she would say “yes” if he proposed.

Later on, Hannah shares the details of this intense encounter with Brittany, mentioning that Leo was “yelling” while presenting her with an ultimatum. This knowledge prompts Brittany to confront Leo about his tendency to view her as his “second choice.”

Hannah feels no remorse about sharing information with Brittany.

“I spoke with Brittany to maintain transparency so she understood the situation. Ultimately, she’ll choose her path,” Hannah said in her interview with YSL News. “But it was important for me to keep her in the loop. I’m content with whatever decision she makes and hope she finds happiness. So yes, I’m glad I reached out to her.”

Despite this, Brittany responds to Leo’s proposal with a subtle “yes.” Nevertheless, they don’t appear when the six engaged pairs head to Cabo together.

Regarding why Leo and Brittany were the only couple to get engaged on-screen without proceeding further in the show, 32-year-old marketing director Ashley Adionser explained to YSL News, “It’s not predetermined who goes to Mexico and who doesn’t. They want to showcase particular storylines.”

Episodes 7-9 of “Love is Blind” will be available for streaming on Netflix starting October 9.
