This year’s hurricane season has led one NFL team to change its plans for the week.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to head to New Orleans on Tuesday for their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Hurricane Milton has escalated to a significant Category 5 storm as it approaches Florida’s west coast.

On Sunday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for various counties. Additionally, Tampa International Airport will halt all flight operations at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

By relocating to New Orleans for the week, the Buccaneers have managed to secure enough hotel accommodations, as reported by ESPN.

Initially, the plan was for Tampa Bay to fly to New Orleans on Saturday. Following a loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night, the Buccaneers (3-2) will have a longer break before facing the Saints, who are set to play the Kansas City Chiefs in a “Monday Night Football” game.

Hurricane Helene recently caused significant destruction in parts of western Florida and the southeastern U.S. In addition, the winds from Milton have surpassed 150 mph, with the region bracing for further impacts.

As stated by the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Buccaneers will begin training on Wednesday at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium in preparation for their Week 6 game.
