Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart Reacts to South Carolina’s Firearm Gesture
On Saturday, Ole Miss dominated South Carolina with a score of 27-3, but the game was overshadowed by a controversial moment involving South Carolina’s freshman defender.
During the latter part of the match, South Carolina’s rookie edge rusher Dylan Stewart, a top prospect for the 2024 recruiting class, tackled Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. This seemingly routine play turned contentious when Stewart mimicked shooting a gun at Dart while he lay on the ground at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Here’s a glimpse of the incident that took place after Stewart’s third-down sack, while Ole Miss was ahead 24-3. Following this, a penalty allowed Ole Miss to continue their drive, leading to a field goal and securing their 27-3 victory:
After the game, South Carolina’s coach Shane Beamer responded with a brief “yes” when asked if he had discussed the penalty with Stewart. However, it was Dart who delivered the more impactful response.
Dart took to Twitter after the match to address Stewart, sharing a video of the celebration and captioning it, “How tf do you miss a whole 100 shots.” The quote references a line from rapper Young Dolph’s song “100 Shots,” which was released in 2017 following an alleged incident where Yo Gotti’s vehicle was shot at over 100 times in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Stewart ended the game with four tackles, three of which were for a loss, and managed one sack. Dart completed 14 of 27 passes for 285 yards and was sacked once, in addition to scrambling eight times for a net gain of 44 yards.
