Tommy Edman successfully executed a rare safety squeeze in the seventh inning to bring Max Muncy home, pushing the Dodgers’ lead to 6-0.
Ohtani Caught Out After Ball Hits Umpire
In the fourth inning, with Shohei Ohtani on second base, Teoscar Hernandez hit what seemed to be an extra-base hit. However, the ball hit the third base umpire after passing Manny Machado. The Padres’ Machado quickly retrieved the ball and tagged Ohtani, who was unaware he was being waved off, making the Dodgers miss a chance to score their sixth run.

In the third inning, Dodgers catcher Will Smith hit a two-run homer against Bryan Hoeing, bringing in Max Muncy, who started the inning with a double. The Dodgers now lead 5-0, having scored in each of their first three innings of play.
