Martha Stewart reveals affair in Netflix documentary trailer, claims husband ‘never knew’

Martha Stewart is opening up in her upcoming documentary, sharing surprising information that her former husband wasn’t even aware of.

In the trailer for her Netflix documentary titled “Martha,” the lifestyle icon confesses to having an affair during her marriage to Andy Stewart.

“Young ladies, take my advice: if your husband starts cheating, he’s not worth it,” Stewart, 83, advises in the trailer. “Leave that marriage.”

A producer interjects, asking, “Did you have an affair early in your marriage?” to which Stewart replies, “Yes, but I don’t think Andy ever found out.”

Stewart was married to Andrew Stewart from 1961 until their divorce in 1990, and she spoke about their split in a 2020 interview with People magazine.

“Divorcing was incredibly difficult for me, especially since I was the first in my family to experience it,” she reflected. “The fact that we haven’t spoken since our divorce makes it even harder. But I’m very resilient and determined to move forward.”

“What matters more, a marriage or a career?” Stewart questions in the Netflix trailer. When prompted by a producer, she admits, “I really don’t know.”

However, she asserts, “The standard life and household were not for me… I could have chosen to be an unhappy, defeated housewife, but I refused to let that define me. I’m so glad I didn’t.”

“That’s right, Martha! Stay true to yourself,” one other user praised on X. Another joked about Stewart’s response, commenting, “Martha said, ‘Oh no, we aren’t discussing me.'”

Martha Stewart’s Netflix documentary explores her friendship with Snoop Dogg, prison time, and lifestyle empire

The documentary aims to reveal the life of one of America’s most successful self-made icons, tracing her journey from a teenage model to a Wall Street stockbroker and ultimately to becoming a leading figure in entertaining and tasteful living, according to Netflix.

“What does it mean to be the first female self-made billionaire in America?” Stewart humorously wonders as the trailer begins.

“People thought I was delusional, but I made it work,” Stewart reflects over a montage of memories, including her earlier successes and more recent endeavors.

The lifestyle expert gained fame as a renowned chef and home lifestyle authority through her extensive Martha Stewart Living brand, which includes cookbooks, a magazine, and her iconic television program.

“I’m strict and demanding, and those qualities have contributed to my success,” Stewart states confidently. “I was at the pinnacle of my career.”

“Then the worst possible scenario occurred,” a voice narrates as the trailer shows news clips of Stewart’s indictment in 2003, followed by her felony conviction in 2004 for obstruction of justice, conspiracy, and making false statements to federal authorities.

“I was treated like a trophy for those incompetent people,” Stewart defiantly remarks. “I was put into solitary confinement. No food or water. Those prosecutors should’ve been treated harshly themselves.”

After serving five months in prison for misleading federal investigators about a stock transaction, Martha Stewart made a remarkable comeback. She has forged a surprising friendship and successful business collaboration with rapper Snoop Dogg, graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2023 issue at the age of 81, and continues to be a significant cultural figure.

“I needed to pull myself up from a low point,” Stewart shares in the documentary trailer. “I followed two guiding principles: ‘Learn something new every day’ and ‘when you stop changing, you stop living.'”
