Angel Reese, a prominent player in the WNBA, has stated that her earnings from the Chicago Sky are insufficient to cover her living costs.

In a recent Instagram Live session, Reese shared that the criticism she faces from fans not only drives her performance but also contributes to her financial stability.

“Hate pays my bills, baby,” she remarked. “Just so you know, the WNBA doesn’t cover my expenses at all. I’m not even sure if it pays for one of my bills. Let me calculate my rent for my place… Oh right, it’s like $74,000?”

With a friend off-screen confirming that her luxury apartment costs $8,000 a month—more than her rookie contract—Reese exclaimed, “I’m living beyond my means!”

This season, Reese, who topped the WNBA in rebounds before suffering a season-ending wrist injury, has garnered significant income outside of basketball since her college days.

While at LSU, she secured a high-profile endorsement deal with Reebok, among approximately 20 partnerships with major brands like PlayStation, Raising Canes, McDonald’s, Coach, Wingstop, Outback Steakhouse, and Amazon, amounting to an estimated total of $1.7 million.

“If you all thought that WNBA paycheck covers anything—did that even take care of my car payment?” she said. “I wouldn’t even be able to buy a sandwich with that. I wouldn’t be able to eat or even live!”
