Kamala Harris Targets Swing State Republicans with Strategic Outreach

Kamala Harris to appeal to swing state Republicans

Kicking off a three-state tour on Monday, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will visit important suburban areas in Chester County, Pennsylvania; Oakland County, Michigan; and Waukesha County, Wisconsin, alongside former Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).

The events, described as conversations, will be moderated by long-time Republican strategist Sarah Longwell and conservative radio host Charlie Sykes. This information comes from a senior campaign official who requested not to be named while discussing the schedule.

Recently, Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, have both publicly backed Harris in her presidential run. Cheney is now one of Harris’ most prominent advocates, urging fellow Republicans to “embrace the moment” and support the current vice president.

Cheney previously lost her position as chair of the House Republican Conference – the third highest ranking role in the House – due to her criticism of Trump after his 2020 election loss, where he attempted to overturn the results.

She was one of the ten Republicans who voted to impeach Trump following the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, and she served as the vice chair on the House select committee investigating the insurrection attempt.

Longwell is the founding member of the Republican Accountability Project, which advocates for Republicans demanding accountability for the events of January 6, 2021. Sykes, a conservative radio personality in Milwaukee for nearly 25 years, is now a staunch critic of Donald Trump. He recently endorsed Harris, emphasizing that opposing Trump’s candidacy is not sufficient.
