Targeted Anti-Trans Campaigns Spark Controversy and Concern Among Advocates

Recent blitz of anti-trans ads attacks Harris. Advocates question their effectiveness, call them harmful. Commercial breaks from Sunday football have also brought on a series of ads attacking Vice President Kamala Harris for her support of the transgender community. "Kamala supports tax-payer funded sex changes for prisoners," one of the ads states. "Kamala is for

Beyoncé Headlines Kamala Harris Rally: Live Updates and Performance Time

HOUSTON – The anticipation is building.

Yes, there are still 11 days remaining until the election, but today’s highlight is Beyoncé performing at the Kamala Harris rally in Houston. We prioritize the singer’s name for a reason—it’s all about Beyoncé today.

It’s well-known that Harris and Beyoncé hold mutual respect for each other. Beyoncé’s song “Freedom,” released in 2016, featured in Harris’ initial campaign ad. Last summer, Harris joined the Beyhive at a Beyoncé concert near Washington, courtesy of ticket gifts from the star.

Today, we’re all about BeyWatch, with our political team on-site in Houston, along with YSL News Network’s dedicated Beyoncé reporter, Caché McClay.

Fans started lining up outside Shell Energy Stadium, famously known for soccer events, hours before the rally began. The atmosphere was buzzing with Drake and Bad Bunny’s “MÍA” playing loudly enough to resonate outside the venue.

What time will Beyoncé take the stage? Will she officially endorse Harris by encouraging everyone to move “to the left”? Did she vote early or will she be seen at polling places in Los Angeles next month? Will there be more performances alongside her, including Willie Nelson? And could Jay-Z make a surprise appearance? Stay tuned as we answer these questions and bring the Houston rally experience to you.

Is Beyoncé in the House at the Harris Rally?

Harris supporters are definitely fans of Beyoncé, but many had secured their tickets for the rally before it was announced she would be performing. As people packed the stadium and energy for Harris grew, there was still no sign of Beyoncé.

Joel Avendano, a 40-year-old Houston local who lives just down the street from Shell Energy Stadium, learned of the rally earlier this week through social media. Despite having heard whispers about Beyoncé’s potential performance, he expressed skepticism after previous reports claimed she would perform at the Democratic National Convention and didn’t show. Regardless, Avendano stated, “I’m here for Kamala.”

Celebrity Support for Kamala Harris

Though Beyoncé has not officially endorsed Harris, her performance at the rally feels like a clear sign of support.

She is joining numerous celebrities who are already backing Harris, including Taylor Swift, Oprah, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Jessica Parker, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Aniston, and many others.

A recent Suffolk University/YSL News national poll of registered voters revealed that celebrity endorsements may not significantly impact politics and might even negatively affect a candidate’s appeal.

Supporters Excited About Beyoncé’s Surprise Performance

Charelle Fluker, 25, had already signed up for the Harris rally before she knew Beyoncé would attend. She hopes to celebrate the historic occasion of the first Black female president, with Beyoncé’s presence being an exciting bonus.

Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child’s Historic Performance

Beyoncé is not new to supporting political candidates; she performed with Destiny’s Child at a “Concert Celebrating America’s Youth” one day before George W. Bush’s inauguration back in 2001, where 98 Degrees also performed.

We’re excited about these nostalgic photos of the singer back in the day – sporting those low-rise jeans and going-out tops, how great was that?

Many young fans attended the concert, with reports indicating that at one moment, Beyoncé urged the crowd to chant: “Everybody in the House say, ‘Bush.'”

The highlight of the event, according to TODAY Show host Jenna Bush Hagar, was Kelly Rowland’s visit to the White House, which she mentioned during Rowland’s appearance on the TODAY Show in 2022.

Rowland had handed a pager to teenage Hagar at that time.

“I was thrilled!” Hagar shared on-air. “I thought it would be texting us. But it wasn’t even texting it was a beep?”

Which songs will Beyoncé perform at the Kamala Harris rally?

As the Beyhive comes together with the K-hive, we’re anticipating a good time.

We think she will perform “Freedom,” her 2016 hit featured in Harris’ initial campaign ad – and how about “Texas Hold’em”? It also seems essential for her to include “Smoke Hour” and “Smoke Hour II,” featuring Willie Nelson, in her setlist. Plus, Beyoncé enjoys keeping us on our toes. We’re all set!

Will this be an intimate concert? While we aren’t expecting a full-fledged Renaissance tour performance, we are hopeful for a few songs!

Bruce Springsteen and other musicians backing Kamala Harris

Beyoncé is not the only artist supporting Harris.

At a Georgia rally on Thursday, Bruce Springsteen performed three acoustic songs solo, praised Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, and criticized Donald Trump, encouraging the audience to vote.

Springsteen delivered a poignant rendition of his classic song “The Promised Land” before speaking to the crowd.

On Monday, Oct. 28, Springsteen and former President Barack Obama will host a rally for Harris in Philadelphia.

Springsteen first showed his support for Harris in a social media video released on Oct. 3.

What time is Beyoncé scheduled to perform at the Kamala Harris rally?

Details about the timing are still unclear. Rally organizers are being secretive about when events will unfold. However, we do know that Harris is slated to take the stage at 8:30 p.m. CT, and it remains uncertain if Beyoncé and the other performers will go on before or after her. Generally, the main act—Harris in this instance, even if she may not typically headline in the presence of Beyoncé—performs last. But are organizers concerned about attendees leaving after the concert and before Harris speaks? This could mean a late evening for those located on the east coast.

Where is Beyoncé performing for the Kamala Harris rally?

Supporters who registered for updates on the event were informed that doors will open at 3 p.m. CT for the rally.

Tickets for those who secured them can be found on SeatGeek, and the rally will take place at the Shell Energy Stadium, home to the Houston Dynamo FC and Houston Dash, part of the National Women’s Soccer League. Fun fact: It was the first stadium built specifically for soccer in a major downtown area and opened in 2012.

How can I watch the rally? I want to know: How can I catch Beyoncé’s performance?

YSL News will be live-streaming the performance of the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer on its YouTube channel.

Why is Beyoncé performing at the Kamala Harris rally?

Beyoncé is a proud product of Houston, Texas – it’s where she was born and grew up. This city also marks the beginnings of Destiny’s Child, originally known as Girl’s Tyme.

However, the iconic singer has not resided in Texas for quite some time. As the election approaches, both presidential hopefuls are enlisting celebrity support. The day of the Houston rally featuring Beyoncé, Kamala Harris will be interviewing Brené Brown, a popular figure among female audiences. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has also lined up an appearance on the well-known podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

Harris’s visit to Texas is aimed at backing Colin Allred, the Democrat challenging Republican Senator Ted Cruz. This visit is also focused on discussing abortion rights and the issue of limited reproductive freedoms in Texas, which has some of the nation’s strictest abortion regulations.

Is Beyoncé supporting Kamala Harris?

While “Freedom,” a hit from Beyoncé released in 2016, appeared in Harris’s first campaign advertisement, Beyoncé has not officially endorsed the Democratic candidate yet. However, her mother, Tina Knowles, showed her support for Harris back in July.

Has Beyoncé endorsed any presidential candidates in the past?

Beyoncé has endorsed notable figures like former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and President Joe Biden during their respective presidential campaigns.

The celebrated pop star sang the national anthem at Obama’s second inauguration in 2013. Additionally, she participated in a concert aimed at boosting voter turnout for Clinton during her campaign in 2016 against Trump.

Who else will perform at Kamala Harris’s rally in Houston?

You already know Beyoncé will be there. Also, expect to see the legendary Willie Nelson, who continues to tour at the age of 91.

Is Taylor Swift supporting Kamala Harris? Will she perform for Kamala Harris?

No, that won’t be happening. But wouldn’t it be exciting?

Taylor Swift has a show scheduled 347 miles east in New Orleans, as part of her Eras Tour.

The last occasion when they were spotted together was at a movie premiere for Beyoncé in London, following Beyoncé’s attendance at Swift’s own movie premiere in Los Angeles.

Both artists were also at the Grammys earlier this year. Did they spend time together? They are recognized for being very supportive of each other. Following the only presidential debate this year, Swift voiced her support for Harris on Instagram, stating: “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm rather than chaos.”
