Squirrel Stages Epic Touchdown Moment at Ole Miss-Oklahoma Football Showdown

Squirrel invades field during Ole Miss-Oklahoma football match, ‘scores’ a touchdown

During Saturday’s SEC clash between No. 18 Ole Miss and Oklahoma, an uninvited visitor showed up on the field.

And this guest wasn’t a spectator — well, sort of.

When Oklahoma’s defensive lineman Gracen Halton was being looked after during an injury timeout, a squirrel made an appearance on the field. As the game was ready to continue at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the little critter sprang into action, dashing towards the end zone.

“The squirrel may score a touchdown! Oh yes, touchdown!” exclaimed ESPN’s Bob Wischusen during the broadcast.

The squirrel’s dash across the field happened right after the Sooners equalized the score at 7-7 with an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jackson Arnold to Bauer Sharp.

Here’s another view from the jumbotron featuring the squirrel running onto the field, which excited the crowd in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium:

At the moment the squirrel was safely escorted off the field and into the end zone, the game score was still tied at 7-7-7 (Ole Miss, Oklahoma, squirrel).

This was the first matchup between Ole Miss and Oklahoma as SEC rivals, and only their second meeting overall since they last faced off in the 1999 Independence Bowl.

If Ole Miss secures a victory on Saturday, they will boost their chances for their first College Football Playoff appearance under Lane Kiffin. The Rebels entered this game boasting the No. 2 scoring defense nationwide, allowing an average of just 10.57 points per game.
