Atlanta police apprehend armed individual following shooting reports in Midtown
On Tuesday afternoon, authorities in Atlanta took an armed individual into custody in Midtown after reports of gunfire near the Four Seasons Hotel prompted a shelter-in-place order.
The Atlanta Police Department alerted the public to avoid the vicinity of the hotel via a post on X shortly before 3 p.m. They had established a perimeter to carry out an investigation, as various local news sources reported multiple gunshots in the area.
The department advised, “Please shelter in place or stay away from the area.” They added, “Citizens near the Four Seasons Hotel are urged to keep away from windows and rooms that overlook the area.”
By 4:35 p.m., police confirmed the suspect had been captured and taken into custody.
“We request that individuals continue to avoid the vicinity. Roads will remain closed for some time as the investigation is ongoing,” stated the department.
