## Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Claims Trump Will Remove Fluoride From Water
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently made a claim that if re-elected, Donald Trump would remove fluoride from public water sources. He stated this on X, formerly known as Twitter, suggesting that fluoride is dangerous without providing any evidence.
Kennedy’s claims go against decades of scientific research and endorsements from major health organizations, including:
* **Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)**, which lists community water fluoridation as one of the top 10 public health achievements of the 20th century.
* **American Dental Association**
* **American Academy of Pediatrics**
These organizations cite studies showing that fluoride, at recommended levels, greatly reduces tooth decay in both children and adults by at least 25%. While a recent U.S. Department of Health and Human Services report did find a link between very high levels of fluoride and lower IQ in children – levels significantly higher than those recommended for public water systems – Kennedy’s statement lacks any factual basis.
Kennedy has a history of promoting misleading health information, including debunked theories linking vaccines to autism and spreading false narratives about COVID-19.
Despite exiting the Democratic primary race earlier this year, Kennedy endorsed Trump and declared his intentions for a “big role in healthcare” should Trump win. The Trump campaign has, however, denied this claim.
The Trump campaign declined to directly respond to Kennedy’s statement regarding fluoride, instead focusing on the upcoming election.
