Cardinals Quickly Shut State Farm Stadium Roof After Surprise Hail During Second Quarter
GLENDALE, Arizona – Indeed, it does rain in the desert.
This Saturday, the Arizona Cardinals informed that for their Week 9 matchup against the Chicago Bears, the roof of State Farm Stadium would be open. This decision, however, proved to be unwise.
Hail unexpectedly began to fall during the second quarter, affecting the playing surface. Some fans inside the stadium stared up in shock, while others rushed towards the stands for shelter.
In response, the stadium’s staff opted to close the roof, a process that took around 10 minutes, all while the game was still in progress.
The roof was fully closed with under four minutes remaining in the second quarter.
