The Jackson family has honored Tito Jackson, who passed away nearly two months ago at the age of 70, at his funeral.
As reported by multiple sources including People magazine, TMZ, and the Daily Mail, Tito’s funeral occurred on Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. This cemetery also hosted a private service for his brother Michael Jackson back in June 2009.
Among the attendees were Michael Jackson’s children, Paris and Bigi, along with Tito’s siblings La Toya and Marlon, as confirmed by various media outlets.
YSL News has contacted representatives for the Jackson family for further information.
Tito’s sons, Taj, Taryll, and TJ Jackson, shared the news of their father’s passing in a social media post on September 15.
In their heartfelt statement, they said, “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson. We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared deeply for everyone.”
Tito, alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, became a Motown sensation as one of the Jackson 5. The group achieved remarkable success with four consecutive No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I’ll Be There,” and were central to the phenomenon known as Jacksonmania, all while being guided by their father’s strict management style.
In 1997, Jackson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Jackson 5 and received three Grammy nominations over his career for best R&B performance and best contemporary vocal performance.
The Jacksons released a total of 16 studio albums, with 10 as the Jackson 5 and six as The Jacksons, achieving immense popularity both collectively and individually. They became a landmark boy band, enjoying immense cultural impact particularly among Black families across the nation.
Tito also pursued a solo career, launching albums such as “Tito Time” in 2016 and “Under Your Spell” in 2021. He continued to create music up until last year, collaborating with Brazilian artist Natalia Damini on the track “Attitude” and its music video.
