Nick Bosa of the 49ers Declares MAGA Hat Stunt ‘Totally Worth’ Potential Fine

49ers DE Nick Bosa claims wearing MAGA hat stunt was ‘totally worth’ possible fine

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa stands by his decision to wear a “Make America Great Again” hat.

After the 49ers defeated the Dallas Cowboys 30-24 in a “Sunday Night Football” game, Bosa interrupted an on-field interview with reporters and his teammates Brock Purdy, George Kittle, and Isaac Guerendo by displaying his white “MAGA” hat, promoting the platform of President-elect Donald Trump, before heading off the field.

While Bosa initially chose not to elaborate on his actions, stating, “I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time,” he later discussed his political statement on Wednesday, the day after Trump earned victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, marking his ascent to the role of 47th U.S. President.

“Clearly, the nation spoke,” Bosa remarked during a press conference on Wednesday.

Bosa’s political stunt breached NFL regulations that prohibit “wearing, displaying, or conveying personal messages related to political activities.” Despite this, insiders informed YSL News Sports that Bosa is unlikely to face suspension as the situation is still under review.

Nonetheless, it’s anticipated that Bosa will incur a fine, to which he responded that it would be “well worth it.”

“I haven’t been fined yet, but if it happens, it happens,” Bosa said, acknowledging that he was aware his actions could attract league discipline. “I don’t think my stance on the matter will change.”

Reflecting on election night, Bosa commented: “It was fun. It was a good time. I stayed up.”

Bosa was picked by the 49ers as the second overall choice in the 2019 NFL draft. Leading up to the draft, Bosa faced backlash due to his controversial social media activity, including derogatory remarks about former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and interactions with posts containing racist and homophobic sentiments. He later deleted these tweets and issued an apology.
