Nick Bosa Fined for Sporting MAGA Hat During Postgame Interview Disruption

Nick Bosa of the 49ers penalized for sporting MAGA hat during postgame interview

The NFL has imposed a fine of $11,255 on San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat while interrupting a postgame interview, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The source requested anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly about the issue.

This fine is categorized as a uniform violation due to wearing a hat featuring a personal message. The fine amount comes from the schedule previously negotiated between the league and the NFL Players Association, which players received at the start of the season.

Bosa wore the hat, which showcased the slogan from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, following the 49ers’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys on October 27, where the score was 30-24. During the celebration, he pointed to his hat while standing behind quarterback Brock Purdy and NBC reporter Melissa Stark, who was interviewing tight end George Kittle and running back Isaac Guerendo.

According to NFL regulations, players are prohibited from “wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying messages relating to political activities or causes, other non-football events, causes, campaigns, or charitable causes or campaigns.”

<p“When asked about his choice to wear the hat, Bosa remarked after the game, ‘I don’t want to elaborate too much, but I think it’s a significant time.’”

The day after Trump triumphed over Vice President Kamala Harris to become the 47th U.S. president, Bosa expressed he anticipated the fine but felt that donning the hat was “well worth it.”
