The main focus for voters this week in the US LBM Coaches Poll will be how they perceive Georgia and Miami after their losses on Saturday.

Georgia, ranked No. 2, faced a setback with a 28-10 defeat against Mississippi. With two losses in SEC play, they are now in a position where they need assistance to make it to the SEC championship game and must avoid any more losses to keep their hopes for a College Football Playoff at-large bid alive.

Miami, which fell from No. 4, lost a close ACC match against Georgia Tech, ending 28-23. Despite having narrowly defeated teams like California, Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Duke previously, they couldn’t recover after quarterback Cam Ward was sacked and lost a fumble with just two minutes remaining.

Miami’s drop shouldn’t be severe due to the decreasing number of undefeated and one-loss teams in the Power Four. Whether Georgia falls significantly depends on how pollsters view this perplexing team: Is Georgia still among the top teams in the nation?

Things will get tricky when looking at the two-loss teams in the SEC. Alabama has beaten Georgia, as have the Rebels. How will these results influence the rankings?

Here’s our prediction for the top positions in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll:

1. Oregon (10-0)

The Ducks are making their mark in the Big Ten with ease. Their victory over Maryland, 39-18, was their fifth win by 21 points or more this season, with their closest game being a narrow 32-31 win against Ohio State last month. They have two upcoming games against Wisconsin and Washington before heading to Indianapolis unbeaten.

2. Ohio State (8-1)

The Buckeyes dominated Purdue 45-0, led by a stellar performance from senior quarterback Will Howard, who completed 21 of 26 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns. This marks the first time in a while he hasn’t thrown an interception during Big Ten games.

3. Texas (8-1)

Texas capitalized on poor quarterback performance from Florida, winning convincingly 49-17. The Longhorns have now claimed five games with at least 31-point margins, two of which were against SEC teams. While the Gators struggled under backup quarterback Aidan Warner, Quinn Ewers shined with 330 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. The Longhorns have a match against Arkansas next week.

4. Tennessee (8-1)

Tennessee cruised to a 33-14 victory over Mississippi State, with the only concern being a precautionary injury to quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Looking ahead, Tennessee is gearing up for a crucial game against Georgia next week. A win would significantly boost their playoff chances and secure a spot in the SEC championship game.

5. Penn State (8-1)

After a disappointing game without an offensive touchdown against Ohio State last week, Penn State bounced back impressively with 485 yards of offense, including 193 yards from running backs Kaytron Allen and Corey Smith, defeating Washington 35-6. To guarantee a playoff spot, they need to win at Minnesota on November 23.

6. Notre Dame (8-1)

Notre Dame had a dominant performance, defeating Florida State 52-3. After a slow start, quarterback Riley Leonard ended the game with 215 passing yards, one touchdown, plus another 70 rushing yards and two scores. BYU celebrated a thrilling victory in the Holy War against Utah, marking a significant Saturday for the unbeaten team. Their standing improved with Iowa State losing to Kansas, putting the Cougars in a strong position for the Big 12 championship game with a two-game lead over teams in third place.

9. Indiana (10-0)

Despite a stagnant offense in the second half against Michigan, Indiana’s strong defense secured a 20-15 victory, marking the first time in the program’s history with a 10-win season. They are now gearing up for a challenging matchup against Ohio State in two weeks. Even with a potential loss, their playoff chances look promising for an at-large bid.

10. Alabama (7-2)

After a week off, Alabama returned looking rejuvenated, defeating LSU 42-13. Jalen Milroe showcased his talent, rushing for 185 yards and four touchdowns. If this performance continues, the Crimson Tide could make a strong case for the playoffs and emerge as contenders for the national championship.
