Princess Kate makes rare public appearance after completing cancer chemotherapy

LONDON − Princess Kate made a notable appearance at the Remembrance Sunday event in central London, marking her second public engagement in just two days as she gradually resumes her royal duties following cancer treatment.

She observed the ceremony from a balcony as members of the royal family, including King Charles, and various political leaders laid wreaths at the Cenotaph memorial.

The Princess of Wales was dressed in a black hat and jacket that featured red poppies, a traditional symbol in the UK to honor those who died in wars.

On Saturday, she attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall.

In September, Kate announced that she had completed her chemotherapy, but acknowledged that her recovery would take time. At that time, the 42-year-old princess indicated she would participate in a few public engagements later in the year.

Prior to this weekend’s ceremonies, her last public outing was in October, where she met with the families of three young girls tragically killed at a dance class in northwest England.

The ceremony at the Cenotaph occurs on the Sunday closest to November 11, commemorating the end of World War I and honoring all who have perished in conflicts.

Prince William, Kate’s husband and next in line for the throne, shared during a trip to South Africa last week that the previous year had likely been the most challenging of his life after both Kate and his father Charles faced cancer diagnoses.
