Engineers Revolutionize CO2 Conversion: Turning Emissions into Valuable Resources

A new electrode design developed at MIT boosts the efficiency of electrochemical reactions that turn carbon dioxide into ethylene and other products. As the world struggles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, researchers are seeking practical, economical ways to capture carbon dioxide and convert it into useful products, such as transportation fuels, chemical feedstocks, or even

Donald Trump to Visit Capitol Hill for the First Time Since Election Victory

WASHINGTON – President-elect Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Capitol Hill for the first time since his election victory on Wednesday. He will meet with Republican leaders from Congress who will help push his administration’s agenda for 2025, as stated by House Speaker Mike Johnson.

According to Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, the meeting with Trump is expected to occur Wednesday morning, prior to Trump’s 11 a.m. meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House.

“It will be a significant meeting for all of us,” Johnson said to reporters outside the Capitol. “There’s a sense of excitement and energy here. We are thankful to President Trump for his dedication in securing this win.”

Trump’s visit coincides with a busy day for the newly elected lawmakers who will officially begin their terms in January. A Senate leadership election is set for 9:30 a.m., where Republicans will choose a successor to Mitch McConnell, the current Senate leader since 2007.

Three senators are in the running: John Thune (R-S.D.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and Rick Scott (R-Fla.), all of whom have committed to supporting Trump’s agenda in Congress.

Trump has already chosen two current House members to join his administration: Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) as national security advisor, the latter of which does not need Senate approval.

However, these appointments may pose challenges for the GOP, which is expected to hold a slim majority in the House. Currently, Republicans have secured 213 seats, while Democrats have 205, with 17 races still undecided. While the GOP is anticipated to maintain control, it will likely be by a narrow margin.

Johnson mentioned that he does not foresee Trump selecting any additional current House members for his administration, though he acknowledged that the final decision rests with Trump.

“President Trump is fully aware of the situation,” Johnson remarked.
