Dave Coulier has received a cancer diagnosis.
The 65-year-old star of “Full House” announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma during a podcast episode of “Full House Rewind” and in an interview with People magazine released on Wednesday.
YSL News has contacted Coulier’s representatives for additional details.
“Three days later, my doctors called me back and said, ‘We wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, specifically B cell, which is very aggressive,’” he shared with People. “I went from thinking I had a slight cold to learning I have cancer, and it was incredibly overwhelming. This has been a fast and intense journey.”
In the latest episode of “Full House Rewind,” released on Wednesday, Coulier appeared wearing a hat and mentioned that he has started chemotherapy and trimmed his hair as a precaution. He expressed his desire to share his “personal battle” with cancer, which has impacted many people, including his sister, niece, and mother, all of whom succumbed to the disease.
“I witnessed what they went through, and if I can show even half the strength they displayed during their challenges, I will be ready for this fight,” he declared.
Coulier also urged followers to get regular cancer screenings, emphasizing that “early detection can make a significant difference.”
What is Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma?
According to the Mayo Clinic, Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a form of cancer that originates in the lymphatic system where “white blood cells known as lymphocytes proliferate abnormally, potentially forming tumors throughout the body.”
The clinic also points out that advancements in diagnosis and treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma have improved survival rates for those affected by the illness.
