The best airport for napping during long delays or layovers.
Experiencing a lengthy layover or an unexpected flight delay can make you feel trapped, much like Tom Hanks in “The Terminal.”
Enduring protracted waits in airports can be daunting for travelers, particularly for those lacking access to lounges. Locating a peaceful gate is often difficult, and even when you do find one, the seating is usually uncomfortable, frequently leading to a choice between dozing on the floor or craning your neck awkwardly to catch some sleep. Plus, there’s the ongoing search for charging outlets as your devices run out of battery.
A recent study by Australian mattress company OneBed revealed that not all airports provide the same level of comfort when it comes to long wait times. The research assessed major airports worldwide, rating them based on various factors, including traffic levels, airport size, availability of free resting areas, and sleep quality feedback from travelers.
“Given the current global circumstances—conflicts, travel interruptions—airports have evolved beyond just transportation hubs; they now serve as vital resting places,” said Dylan Tollemache, co-founder and CEO of OneBed, in a statement to YSL News. “Comfortable layovers are now essential rather than a mere luxury, especially as travelers deal with increasingly unpredictable itineraries.”
