Tom Brady Slams Former Giants Quarterback Daniel Jones for Seeking Release After Being Benched

Tom Brady criticizes ex-Giants QB Daniel Jones for asking to be released after being benched

Tom Brady has attracted attention during his inaugural season as the primary analyst for Fox Sports NFL.

No matter the high standards set for the seven-time Super Bowl champion, every word and action he takes during broadcasts is subject to intense analysis. The Thanksgiving game held on Thursday between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants was one such occasion.

The discussion turned to Daniel Jones, a former quarterback for the Giants, who was benched and later let go, which relieved the team of over $20 million in guaranteed payments.

Reports indicated that the former first-round draft pick asked to be released. After going unclaimed on waivers, he was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings.

Brady commented during the broadcast, “I’m not sure how that situation unfolded, but asking for a release from a team that invested so much in you might not be the approach I would take.” He added, “I always believed in earning the trust and respect of my teammates, regardless of the circumstance, as I aimed to do my best for the team — that was my priority.”

Brady then shared how he would have approached such a scenario.

“Everyone makes their own decisions. Throughout our careers, we all encounter various challenges. I faced similar situations in college – not everything went my way, but the opinions of the teammates in the locker room were what mattered most,” he reflected.

“I showed up every day – I didn’t mind if they asked me to be the scout team safety or quarterback; my goal was to do whatever I could to help the team succeed.”
