Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy Set to Engage House Republicans in Upcoming DOGE Discussion

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to Meet with House Republicans Next Week to Talk DOGE

WASHINGTON – Entrepreneur Elon Musk and politician Vivek Ramaswamy are scheduled to meet with House Republicans next week to discuss federal budget cuts, among other topics.

This discussion follows their appointment by President-Elect Donald Trump to lead a new Department of Government Efficiency. In a statement, Trump emphasized that the department aims to “reduce bureaucratic red tape, eliminate unnecessary regulations, cut down on wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies, which is crucial for the ‘Save America’ initiative.”

House Speaker Rep. Mike Johnson from Louisiana announced on X, previously known as Twitter, that he will be hosting the two on December 5.

“Excited to welcome @elonmusk and @VivekGRamaswamy next week at Capitol Hill to explore significant reform ideas aimed at regulatory cuts, administrative reductions, and savings—revitalizing the concept of limited government! This opportunity comes thanks to @realDonaldTrump!” Johnson remarked.

In an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal, Musk and Ramaswamy detailed their strategy for reforming the federal government through the new department, which includes plans for a significant reduction in the federal workforce.

“DOGE intends to collaborate with appointed officials in various agencies to determine the minimum number of staff required for an agency to fulfill its constitutionally allowed and mandated duties,” they wrote in the piece.

Previously, Musk and Trump had a private meeting with House Republicans in November, where Trump expressed his support for Johnson’s reelection.
