Boeing says goodbye to its global diversity, equity, and inclusion department, per Bloomberg News
On October 31 (Reuters) – Boeing BA.N has officially shut down its global diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) department, according to a Bloomberg News report that refers to sources close to the situation.
The report indicates that the workforce from Boeing’s DEI office will merge with another human resources group that is dedicated to talent management and employee satisfaction.
Sara Liang Bowen, the former vice president of this department, shared on LinkedIn earlier in the day that she has departed from the company.
In her post, she expressed, “It has been the honor of my life to lead the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion efforts at Boeing over the past five-plus years. Our team worked tirelessly to nurture the talent and innovation of our workforce.”
This past Tuesday, Boeing announced a stock offering aiming to generate up to $24.3 billion to bolster its financial standing amid a strike by factory workers that has lasted more than six weeks. Earlier this month, Boeing also revealed plans to reduce its workforce by 17,000 positions, equating to roughly 10% of its global employee count.
