Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs expresses gratitude to his children during their ‘Happy Birthday’ rendition
As Sean “Diddy” Combs celebrated his 55th birthday in custody, his children showed their love and support for the hip-hop icon, who is facing allegations from the U.S. government of managing a “criminal enterprise” for many years.
On Monday, a joint Instagram video was posted by Quincy Brown, Justin Dior Combs, Christian “King” Combs, Chance Combs, D’Lila Combs, Jessie Combs, and Love Combs, featuring six of his seven children gathered around a red velvet Bundt cake. The youngest, 2-year-old Love, sang “Happy Birthday” to Sean Combs over the phone, while her older siblings cheered her on.
“I love you all. I love you all so much,” Sean Combs responded during the call. “I can’t wait to see you all. I just want to say how proud I am of each of you, especially the girls. Thank you all for being strong and being by my side. I’ve got the best family a person could wish for.”
He added, “I’m feeling happy on my birthday. Thank you all for this call.”
The children reassured their father that they would visit him “in a couple of days.” Chance Combs, who couldn’t attend the celebration but participated via a separate phone call, told him she would see him “soon.”
Since his arraignment on September 17, Sean Combs has been held in the Special Housing Unit at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, facing serious accusations related to sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. Authorities allege that the 55-year-old orchestrated complex schemes utilizing his wealth and influence in the entertainment industry to satisfy his sexual desires, engaging in a “well-known” pattern of abuse.
Sean Combs has consistently claimed his innocence, entering a not guilty plea to all federal charges against him. He has also denied any wrongdoing cited in multiple civil suits stemming from claims of rape, assault, and trafficking that reportedly trace back several decades.
Diddy’s family’s response to the allegations
This family video was shared nearly two weeks after Quincy Brown and three of his siblings released a statement on social media, offering their unwavering support for their father amidst his increasing legal troubles.
The joint statement from Quincy, Christian, Jessie, and D’Lila Combs expressed, “This past month has been devastating for our family.”
They contended, “Many have cast judgment based on accusations, conspiracy theories, and false narratives that have circulated on social media. We stand together, supporting you every step of the way. We believe in the truth, knowing it will prevail, and our family’s strength remains unbroken. WE MISS YOU & LOVE YOU DAD.”
Last month, Sean Combs’ mother, Janice Smalls Combs, also issued a statement supporting her son.
She wrote, “It breaks my heart to see my son judged based on falsehoods rather than the truth. Witnessing what feels like a public lynching of my son before he has had the chance to defend himself is indescribably painful. Like every individual, my son deserves his day in court to share his story and affirm his innocence.”
“I’m not trying to paint my son as flawless; he has made mistakes, like everyone else,” she admitted, referring to 2016 hotel surveillance footage showing Sean Combs involved in a physical altercation with his then-girlfriend Casandra Ventura.
She also stated, “Not revealing every detail doesn’t imply my son is guilty of the shocking allegations against him.” Furthermore, she expressed, “Watching the world ridicule and laugh at my son as he faces these challenges is something I will never forget. It’s heartbreaking to see how quickly and easily people turn against him based on lies and misconceptions, without allowing him the chance to tell his side of the story.”
“The allegations against him are driven by individuals looking for monetary benefits rather than seeking justice.”
The statement concludes with Smalls Combs expressing: “My son is not the villain they portray him to be; he deserves the opportunity to share his perspective. I can only hope to be alive when he can finally speak his truth and receive the justice he deserves.”
Attempts by Combs to secure his release from custody before his trial on May 5 have been unsuccessful. His legal team is pursuing a ruling from an appellate court to overturn a decision made on September 18 that rejected his request for release on conditions that include posting a $50 million bond.
