Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson responds to claims he would ‘pee in a bottle’ on set

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson showcases his commitment to his work.

The action star recently discussed various topics in a cover story for GQ, where he partially validated a report from The Wrap that suggested he would “pee in a bottle” and occasionally arrived late to the set of his upcoming holiday film, “Red One.”

When asked about the first claim, Johnson candidly said, “Yeah. That happens.” However, regarding The Wrap’s assertion that he was consistently late by as much as eight hours, he clarified, “I have been late a few times, but not that much. That was a ridiculous amount. Totally absurd.”

YSL News has contacted Johnson’s representatives for a statement.

Earlier this year, The Wrap reported that Johnson’s delays, combined with the inexperience of producers, led to substantial delays for Amazon MGM’s holiday comedy “Red One,” amounting to losses of $250 million. Both Johnson and Amazon MGM’s teams denied these claims at the time.

Jake Kasdan, the director of “Red One,” who has collaborated with Johnson on films like “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” defended him in the GQ interview, stating, “He has never missed a day of work. He has a lot on his plate and can be a little late sometimes, but that’s just part of Hollywood.”

“I’ve always seen him treat everyone on set wonderfully,” Kasdan added.

Co-star Chris Evans echoed similar sentiments.

Evans remarked that “after witnessing some of the behavior of other actors in different productions who are  not considerate of others’ time and efforts,” he found working with Johnson to be refreshingly straightforward.

“We all have a clear understanding of what he’s going to do and when,” Evans stated.

He also recalled a “Five Dollar Fridays” tradition on set, where a daily raffle is held, with contributions expected from the cast and crew. On one occasion, Evans recounted how Johnson surprised everyone.

“I’m not exaggerating,” he emphasized. “The prize pot had grown to four or five thousand dollars, and just before the draw, Dwayne asked, ‘How much is in the pot?’ and someone said, ‘About four grand.’ Then he said, ‘Let’s make it twenty.'”

Evans noted that Johnson had increased the jackpot multiple times, coming up to what he estimated to be “almost one hundred thousand dollars.”

“Red One,” which also features J.K. Simmons playing Santa alongside Johnson as Callum Drift, the head of security at the North Pole, and Chris Evans as bounty hunter Jack O’Malley, is scheduled for release on Friday.
