NCT’s Taeil exits group amid sexual offense allegations
Moon Taeil, a member of the South Korean boy band NCT, has stepped down from the group due to sexual offense allegations, as reported by their agency, SM Entertainment.
On Wednesday, the agency issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter), indicating that the 30-year-old has been “accused in a criminal case related to a sexual crime.” They did not disclose further details about the accusations.
“We acknowledge the gravity of the situation and have determined that Taeil can no longer participate in group activities,” the label announced, as quoted by the Associated Press. “We have consulted with Taeil regarding this issue, and it has been concluded that he will exit the group.” The agency also mentioned that Taeil is fully cooperating with the ongoing police inquiry.
Having been a part of the well-known K-pop group since 2016, Taeil also participated in its sub-unit, NCT 127. He was involved in promotional activities as recently as July, when they released new music.
While he has departed from NCT, reports from Korea JoongAng Daily suggest his contract with SM Entertainment remains intact for now.
