Princess Kate Rewears Princess Diana’s Necklace During State Visit with Prince William
Princess Kate is embracing her royal responsibilities again as she recovers from her battle with cancer.
On Tuesday, the Princess of Wales attended a state visit in London alongside her husband, Prince William, and her father-in-law, King Charles. This appearance marked Kate’s return to official duties following her cancer treatment.
During the event, Charles, who has also faced cancer challenges, and the emir reviewed the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards while a military band performed. Queen Camilla did not attend the outdoor ceremony as she is recovering from a recent chest infection but is expected at a lunch hosted at Buckingham Palace.
Kate wore a stylish burgundy coat paired with a matching merlot fascinator, accessorized with a necklace that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II and was also worn by Princess Diana.
This event was one of Kate’s first appearances since she declared in September that she had completed her preventive chemotherapy. Later that month, she made her return to public life attending a church service with her family in Scotland.
In October, Kate accompanied William in meeting with emergency service workers and the families affected by a mass stabbing in Southport, England. Additionally, she was present at the Remembrance Sunday ceremony in London last month.
On December 6, the Princess of Wales will host her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey. In a letter to the service’s attendees, she expressed that Christmas inspires love over fear, describing love as the greatest gift we can give and receive—not just during the holidays, but every day of our lives.
In September, Kate stated she was “doing what I can to stay cancer-free” following her chemotherapy, but acknowledged that her “healing journey is still a long one.”
“I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she remarked, expressing her eagerness to return to work and participate in more public engagements in the months ahead. “Despite everything I’ve faced, I step into this new chapter of recovery with a fresh sense of hope and gratitude for life.”
Princess Kate publicly disclosed her cancer diagnosis in March, shortly after King Charles III revealed his own cancer diagnosis due to treatment for benign prostate enlargement in February. Last month, William conveyed to the British press that this has been an “awful” year, likely the most challenging of his life.
“Managing everything else and keeping everything in order has been exceptionally tough,” he shared.
