Britney Spears reunites with son Jayden, 18, after kids moved in with dad Kevin Federline
Britney Spears has reconnected with her younger son, Jayden Federline, following their public disagreements in 2022.
In 2023, Spears’ children, Jayden, now 18, and Sean Preston Federline, who is 19, relocated to Hawaii with their father, Kevin Federline. Recently, a trusted source, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed to YSL News that Britney and Jayden have been spending time together at her home in Los Angeles.
A 2022 article by the Daily Mail highlighted the tensions between the sons and their mother, which surfaced after a Los Angeles judge ended Britney’s controversial conservatorship that had lasted for 13 years in November 2021.
The pop star’s conservatorship, which had attracted significant media attention throughout its duration, finally came to an end in 2021 after nearly 14 years of legal tensions.
This legal struggle was amplified by the #FreeBritney movement, a campaign supported by her fans and legal advocates aiming to liberate Spears from the conservatorship. Much of the public backlash was directed towards her father, Jamie Spears, as supporters believed the family was exploiting the conservatorship for financial reasons.
During this tumultuous period, Jayden expressed that the public failed to recognize the challenges his grandfather, Jamie Spears, faced while managing the conservatorship amidst intense scrutiny.
He shared that his grandfather “doesn’t deserve all the hatred he is getting in the media” and was merely trying to fulfill his role as a father, and also mentioned that he felt there was a disparity in how their mother treated him compared to his brother.
Britney was placed under conservatorship in 2008 after a widely publicized breakdown the previous year that displayed her disturbing behavior, which was relentlessly followed by the media.
Jayden also shared his feelings, stating, “I think mom has struggled to give us both attention and equal love; I don’t believe she treated Preston as well. I feel sorry for him.” He emphasized that they have endured a lot of pressure and that their present situation provides a safe space to deal with the emotional struggles they’ve experienced.
He believes that with “a lot of time and effort,” he and his mother can improve their relationship. “I care about her deeply, and I wish her the best. I hope we have a chance to talk openly again someday,” he expressed.
In response to the Daily Mail article, Britney shared her feelings about the challenging dynamic with her sons through a series of audio messages on Instagram.
She stated, “I had my children with me significantly more than their dad during a certain period. From when they were 6 to 9 years old, I was with them 70% of the time. Since they’ve been away, I genuinely feel like a part of me has died, and my sense of purpose has diminished. They brought me joy; they meant everything to me.”
She remarked: “I tell my son Jayden that I send you all my love every day for the rest of my life,” she expressed. “My affection for my children knows no limits, and it really hurts to hear his words about me not meeting his expectations as a mother. I hope that one day we can meet face to face and have an open conversation about this!!!!”
