BrucePac Issues Recall for Nearly 10 Million Pounds of Ready-to-Eat Meat: Review the List of 75 Products Affected
BrucePac, a company that specializes in pre-cooked meats, has identified 75 products impacted by a significant recall totaling close to 10 million pounds, as stated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Wednesday.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) disclosed that the recall involves roughly 9,986,245 pounds of BrucePac’s ready-to-eat poultry, after routine testing discovered Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consuming contaminated foods can lead to listeriosis, a serious infection.
The products in question were distributed to various establishments across the country, such as restaurants and food service providers. Some of these items have production dates as recent as October 8, which means they may still be present in homes or available at restaurants and retail locations, warned the FSIS.

The recall includes various chicken products such as strips, breasts, patties, and diced chicken. There are also beef items involved, including beef patties and fajita strips.

Actions to Take If You Have a Recalled Product
The USDA recommends that consumers who possess these products refrain from consuming them and instead dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased. Retailers are also advised not to sell any of the recalled items and to either discard or return them.
While there have been no confirmed cases of adverse reactions associated with these foods, anyone who is worried about possible illness should seek medical attention.
Symptoms of Listeriosis or Listeria Poisoning
Listeriosis, also known as listeria poisoning, is caused by the foodborne bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. It can be a severe health problem, posing significant risks, especially to older adults, those with compromised immune systems, and pregnant individuals.
According to the USDA, common symptoms include:
- Fever
- Muscle aches
- Headache
- Stiff neck
- Confusion
- Loss of balance
- Convulsions
- Diarrhea
- Other gastrointestinal issues
- Pregnancy complications (miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, or serious infections in newborns)
- Death
Individuals at heightened risk who experience flu-like symptoms within two months of consuming contaminated food should seek medical care and inform their healthcare provider about the consumption of the tainted food, the USDA advises.
