Chappell Roan Calls Out Red Carpet Photographer for Disrespectful Behavior: “An Apology is in Order!”

Chappell Roan calls for photographer’s apology: ‘You showed me disrespect’

Chappell Roan is once again making headlines due to an encounter with a photographer.

The rising pop star confronted a photographer on the red carpet during the premiere of Netflix’s “Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour” concert film on Friday, noting that the individual had been “so disrespectful” to her during a previous incident at the 66th Grammy Awards in February.

“You were incredibly disrespectful to me at the Grammys,” Roan stated in a video shared online. “You shouted at me at the Grammy party. Yes, I remember. You were really rude, and I deserve an apology. You owe me an apology.”

During the video, someone tries to intervene in the exchange and guide Roan away from the carpet. It’s not clear exactly what past incident Roan refers to in the video.

Roan was an opening act for Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour. YSL News reached out to Roan’s representatives for a statement.

Last month, she participated in another heated exchange with a different paparazzo during the MTV Video Music Awards, which was featured in TikTok videos shared by Variety and The Associated Press.

Roan, whose actual name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, has openly discussed her experiences with fame both before and after her rise to pop culture prominence this year, particularly following the success of her debut 2023 album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.” She has recently canceled several tour dates amid her rapid ascent.

Roan, who may have set a record for Lollapalooza attendance in August, is candid with her fans about how her bipolar II disorder affects her career, particularly her ability to manage her emotions and reactions to success.

In 2022, the Missouri native shared her struggles with her followers on Instagram, discussing how she copes with her fame: “I’ve been diagnosed with bipolar II, and it’s been quite a challenge to keep myself together while releasing these songs. I was on medication and in the throes of hypomania when ‘Naked in Manhattan’ came out, and I’m no longer in that state,” she wrote. “I’m currently in intensive outpatient therapy and individual therapy multiple days a week, and it’s a struggle to find balance. It’s a daily challenge that significantly impacts me and influences my music.”

Roan launched her debut album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” in September 2023, and this week it hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart.
