Cowboys to hold interview with ex-Jets coach Robert Saleh, according to sources
Jerry Jones’ search for a new coach may be starting to solidify.
The Dallas Cowboys are set to interview former head coach of the New York Jets, Robert Saleh, for their vacant coaching position, as reported by several sources. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport was the first to break the story.
Before Wednesday, the Cowboys had not made any known requests for interviews related to the position after they decided to let go of Mike McCarthy following five seasons. Jones did contact Colorado’s coach, Deion Sanders, to have a discussion about the role, but no formal interview has been arranged yet.
Saleh, who is 45 years old, was dismissed on October 8 after leading the Jets to a 2-3 record in his fourth season, bringing a sudden end to a challenging period for him. He went on to serve as an offensive consultant for the Green Bay Packers for the remainder of the year.
During his tenure with the Jets, Saleh recorded a 20-36 win-loss record.
Additionally, Saleh interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their head coaching position on Tuesday and is scheduled to meet with the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, as confirmed by multiple sources. He also had an interview with the San Francisco 49ers for their vacant defensive coordinator role, which he previously held from 2017 to 2020 before joining the Jets.
