Disney World and Universal Studios Shut Down for Hurricane Milton Cleanup

Following the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, Walt Disney World’s theme parks and other facilities are closed on Thursday. However, there is good news for Disney enthusiasts as the resort plans to reopen on Friday.

The resort stated, “We are thankful that Walt Disney World Resort withstood the storm. We are currently evaluating the situation to ensure the safe reopening of the theme parks, Disney Springs, and possibly other areas on Friday, October 11. Our thoughts are with our fellow Floridians affected by this storm.”

Here’s essential information for visitors.

Is Disney World in Orlando Closed Due to Hurricane Milton?

The theme parks and Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort were closed on Wednesday afternoon and will not reopen until Friday. Preparations are being made for resuming operations at these locations.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party scheduled for Thursday has been canceled.

Transportation services within the Disney resort have been halted, and Minnie Van and Mears taxi services will be running limited operations.

For updates, guests are encouraged to check Disney World’s official website.

Additionally, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park and mini-golf courses were also closed on Wednesday. Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park was already out of service for the season. The ESPN Wide World of Sports doesn’t have any events scheduled until this coming weekend.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa started closing down late Wednesday morning and are anticipated to remain closed until Sunday.

If the National Hurricane Center issues a hurricane warning for Orlando, or for areas where guests are located within seven days of their trip, they may cancel or modify vacation packages or hotel bookings made directly through the Walt Disney Travel Company without any fees. Unused tickets remain valid, allowing guests to change dates for future visits.
