Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Unstoppable’ premiere canceled due to Pacific Palisades fire

A large wildfire in Los Angeles is affecting Hollywood movie premieres, with some celebrities needing to evacuate.

Driven by a strong wind storm hitting Southern California, a brush fire in LA has scorched over 1,200 acres, prompting the evacuation of thousands on Tuesday.

A mandatory evacuation was enforced in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood due to dangerous conditions along Piedra Morada Drive and the Pacific Coast Highway. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that several homes were at risk.

Hollywood is also grappling with the fiery situation. The premiere of Jennifer Lopez’s new movie, “Unstoppable,” was called off on Tuesday due to “safety concerns regarding increased wind patterns and fire risks.”

“Although we were eager to celebrate this inspiring film, safety comes first,” said Emily Teichner, a spokesperson for “Unstoppable,” in a statement to YSL News.

“We invite everyone to watch ‘Unstoppable’ on Prime Video, available worldwide starting January 16.”

The Palisades Fire was first reported around 11 a.m. local time and rapidly intensified during the day. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but experts attribute its severity to the fierce Santa Ana winds, low humidity, and extremely dry vegetation, as stated by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

‘Wolf Man’ premiere also canceled due to Pacific Palisades fire

Similarly, the premiere of the supernatural horror film “Wolf Man” was canceled because of the Pacific Palisades fire, according to an official announcement from Universal Pictures.

Universal spokesperson Elpin Keshishzadeh stated, “Tonight’s premiere of ‘Wolf Man’ has been scrapped due to concerns surrounding the deteriorating weather conditions in LA and the resulting evacuations.”

This scary film, directed by Leigh Whannell and a remake of the 1941 classic “The Wolf Man,” features actors Julia Garner, Christopher Abbott, and Sam Jaeger.

James Woods uncertain if his home remains intact after evacuation

Oscar-nominated actor James Woods took to social media on Tuesday to announce that he had to evacuate due to the escalating fire situation, sharing an image of a burning hillside.

Woods is not the only celebrity living in the Pacific Palisades area, a wealthy neighborhood situated about 20 miles west of Downtown Los Angeles.

Several other stars, including Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper, Eugene Levy, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Adam Sandler, and Michael Keaton, are also reported to reside in this region, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“To all the amazing people who reached out, thank you for your concern,” Woods posted on X. “I want to inform you that we evacuated safely. At this moment, I cannot confirm if our house is still standing, but unfortunately, there are houses on our street that are not.”
