Liz Cheney Calls on Republicans to Support Kamala Harris, Suggests Not Voting Would Aid Donald Trump

WASHINGTON – Former Representative Liz Cheney from Wyoming stated on Sunday that Republicans who oppose former President Donald Trump should actively vote for Vice President Kamala Harris this fall instead of opting to write in other names or abstaining from voting altogether.

During her appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Cheney emphasized that not participating in the election or voting for other Republican candidates could inadvertently assist Trump in crucial swing states, as the race is extremely close.

“Due to the tight nature of this election, especially if you’re voting in a battleground state, it’s essential that you take that extra step,” said Cheney, who acknowledged that she has never previously voted for a Democrat.

As the debate between Harris and Trump approaches, Cheney condemned Trump as an unprecedented threat to democracy.

“The Republicans have nominated someone who is – quite frankly – depraved,” Cheney remarked.

Several other notable Republicans, including Trump’s former Vice President Mike Pence and Mitt Romney, the 2012 presidential nominee, have also indicated their lack of support for Trump. They are considering voting for Harris, not voting at all, or writing in different candidates.

Among the anti-Trump faction is Cheney’s own father, Dick Cheney, a former Vice President.

Once seen as one of the most conservative figures in recent history, Dick Cheney, who was often vilified by Democrats as “Darth Vader,” declared on Friday that “there has never been a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.”

Stating his intent to vote for Harris, Dick Cheney expressed that Trump “attempted to undermine the last election by spreading lies and resorting to violence to cling to power after the voters rejected him As citizens, we each have a responsibility to prioritize our country over party loyalty to defend our Constitution.”

In response, Trump and his supporters labeled both Cheneys as “Republicans In Name Only,” accusing them of being tools for a failing GOP establishment that ignores the working class.

“Dick Cheney is just a meaningless RINO, like his daughter,” Trump commented on his Truth Social platform on Friday.

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who previously served as Trump’s press secretary and appeared on ABC’s “This Week,” said Cheney is irrelevant and that the majority of Republicans remain in support of Trump.

“I don’t mean to be rude, but you can’t call yourself a conservative or Republican while backing the most extreme candidate the Democrats have offered,” Sanders argued.

During her interview, Cheney reiterated her opposition to Trump, stating he is “not a conservative.” She pointed out his numerous threats against political opponents and his proposals for tariffs, which she claimed would harm global trade.

Cheney revealed that her first vote was for President Ronald Reagan in 1984, contrasting Trump unfavorably with the conservative leader. “There’s no way Ronald Reagan would be supporting Donald Trump,” she commented.

When asked if she still identifies as a Republican, Cheney was hesitant but expressed her desire to help rebuild the Republican Party.

“I’m certainly not a Trump Republican,” Cheney stated. “I am a conservative.”
