Uh-oh! ‘Golden Bachelorette’ entry mishaps, including a horse that ran away
We have already showcased Joan Vassos’s radiant debut on “The Golden Bachelorette,” along with the impressive contestants who made a lasting impact during ABC’s launch night.
However, there were a few out of 24 contestants who probably wished for another chance to make a better first impression with Joan. The most memorable was David, 68, a rancher from Austin, Texas, who made a striking entrance on horseback.
“Now that’s an entrance,” Joan commented, clearly impressed. “Where did you get a horse out there? So you’re trying to outshine everyone, huh?”
And indeed, a group of guys already at the mansion chuckled as they observed from a distance, cocktail glasses in hand.
“Is the guy or the horse the contestant?” one of them joked with a grin.
David got off his horse without a hitch, but his mount slyly bolted as he approached Joan. The “Golden Bachelorette” crew could be seen chasing the runaway horse around the estate.
“I want you to go meet that horse,” David innocently told Joan.
“Um, I think it left,” Joan replied.
“Oh my God, what just happened?” David exclaimed, spinning around in surprise.
Laughter erupted from the Bachelor Mansion and spread to a lively Gary, who couldn’t stop chuckling about the horse during his confessional interview. The hilarity was echoed by viewers tuning in from their homes and sharing it on social media.
Sadly, the horse escapade may have affected David’s standing. He did not receive a rose that evening and was among six contestants sent home.
Other ‘Golden Bachelorette’ introductions that flopped
- Jordan, 61, a sales manager from Chicago, seemed noticeably anxious meeting Joan. He was sweet while discussing his three daughters but kept fretting over his entrance and promised to improve next time. Relax, Jordan; he received a rose.
- Michael, 65, a retired bank CEO, was so nervous about meeting Joan that he forgot his own name. “Michael, that’s me,” he stated. However, he shrugged it off and continued. Michael also received a rose.
- Bob, 66, a chiropractor from Marina Del Rey, California, stepped out of his car recording with a vintage video camera. While quirky, it’s not ideal to meet someone camera-first. Bob received a rose from Joan.
- Christopher, 64, a contractor from West Babylon, New York, pointed out to Joan that dating 24 men on a reality show was “a bit unusual.” His suggestion to serve prune juice upon their introduction was a tad too much. “By the evening, everything will run very smoothly,” he joked. TMI on the first meet, but Christopher still got a rose.
