Princess Kate Announces Her Cancer is in Remission: ‘It’s a Relief’

Princess Kate has confirmed that her cancer is now in remission.

“It is a relief to be in remission, and I am staying focused on my recovery,” the Princess of Wales shared in a social media post on Tuesday. “As anyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis knows, adjusting to a new normal takes time. However, I am looking forward to a rewarding year ahead. There is so much to be excited about. Thank you to everyone for your unwavering support.”

This announcement comes after her visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital on Tuesday, where she received treatment following her diagnosis.

“I wanted to take this time to express my gratitude to The Royal Marsden for their exceptional care over the past year,” Kate, 43, remarked. “My heartfelt appreciation goes to all who have quietly supported William and me during this journey. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and guidance provided to me throughout my treatment have been outstanding.”

Kate’s Cancer in Remission; Becomes Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden Hospital

Kate also revealed that she has taken on the role of joint patron of The Royal Marsden. This position allows her to officially advocate for the medical institution.

“My aspiration is that by backing cutting-edge research and promoting clinical excellence, along with the well-being of patients and their families, we can save more lives and improve the experiences of everyone affected by cancer,” she stated.

The need to explain her absence from public life led Kate to disclose her cancer diagnosis. In March, she announced that she would undergo preventative chemotherapy after having surgery for abdominal issues. Her treatment concluded in September, and she shared in a video message at that time: “The journey to healing and full recovery is lengthy, and I must take each day as it comes.”

During her visit to the hospital, Kate opened up to cancer patients about her experience with chemotherapy.

“You think the treatment is over, and you can resume your normal life, but that remains a significant challenge. The words just fade away,” she told one patient, according to the BBC. “As a patient, it’s important to understand that while there are side effects from the treatment, there are also many long-term effects to consider.”

What Type of Cancer Does Princess Kate Have?

Kate has not disclosed the specific type of cancer she was diagnosed with, nor has King Charles III, who was also diagnosed with cancer early last year after a medical procedure for benign prostate enlargement.
