Sandra Bullock reassures Hoda Kotb about turning 60: ‘It’s pretty damn great’
Hoda Kotb should not worry about hitting 60, as her star friend Sandra Bullock is here to provide reassurance that crossing into a new decade is actually “pretty awesome.”
Bullock, who celebrated her 60th birthday on July 26, made a surprise appearance in a video during Kotb’s “Today with Hoda & Jenna” birthday special on Monday, coinciding with Kotb’s own milestone birthday on August 9. Co-host Jenna Bush Hager excitedly introduced Bullock’s special greeting, pointing out that Kotb isn’t the only one reaching 60 this year.
In a calm video message, Bullock admitted she was feeling “too tired” to deliver her usual comedic energy.
“I’m worn out because I had to trek up that mountain ahead of you to scope out the terrain, see what it’s like, and prepare to share my thoughts,” said Bullock. “It’s strange how people want us to be scared about what aging looks like, but honestly, it’s pretty damn great.”

Bullock, who is a mother to two children (Louis and Laila), praised Kotb for excelling as a television host, a friend, and a mother.
“How you treat those you love, how you protect them, and just who you are makes us all so lucky to have you, especially your kids,” Bullock stated.
Kotb is a mother to two daughters, Haley, aged 7, and Hope, aged 4. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bullock for inspiring her adoption journey.
“The reason I have Haley and Hope is that when I was seeking inspiration from other mothers my age, Sandra Bullock came to mind,” Kotb shared. “I reached out to her and said, ‘Share your motherhood experiences with me.’ (Bullock) told me, ‘It’s the best decision I ever made.’ That conversation guided me to my two girls.”
Bullock wrapped up her birthday video message by inviting Kotb to celebrate in person at her home.
“Happy birthday, my dear friend. I’m so grateful for having you in my life,” Bullock expressed. “Your bar is set up here, and we can enjoy the beautiful view together. It’s stunning, but I need you here with me.”
