Partial lunar eclipse coincides with Harvest supermoon: Enjoy these breathtaking images

Skywatchers were treated to a stunning display as the vibrant Harvest supermoon appeared alongside a partial lunar eclipse on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday night, a spectacular lunar phenomenon captivated viewers throughout the United States and the Northern Hemisphere.

This week’s full Harvest Moon coincided with a stunning supermoon, which is notable for being particularly large and bright. Additionally, a partial lunar eclipse took place.

As evening fell on Tuesday, the bright orange Harvest supermoon ascended into the sky, coinciding with its unusually close position to Earth along its elliptical path. Later that night, Earth’s shadow partially obscured the moon as it interposed between the moon and the sun.

Photos from around the globe captured both the mesmerizing Harvest supermoon and the moments of the partial lunar eclipse. Below are some amazing images:

There’s Still Time To Catch a Glimpse of the Harvest Moon

The Harvest Moon reached its brightest point on Tuesday during the eclipse, but you can still enjoy the view of the full moon.

It first appeared on Monday and will shine for three nights, concluding in the early hours of Thursday morning, as noted by the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Unlike other moon phases, the Harvest Moon does not have a specific month associated with it. Instead, it typically occurs each year around the time of the autumnal equinox, as stated by the Almanac. Consequently, the Harvest Moon can be observed in either September or October, depending on how the lunar cycle coincides with the Gregorian calendar.

This year’s autumnal equinox takes place on Sunday, September 22, but the Harvest Moon is already illuminating the night sky.
