Tulsi Gabbard Supports Trump: Reasons Behind Her Endorsement
Former Representative Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii, who was a Democratic candidate for president just four years ago, publicly backed former President Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency again on Monday during the National Guard Association’s annual meeting in Michigan.
The announcement came on the third anniversary of a tragic suicide bombing at Kabul’s main airport, which resulted in the deaths of 13 U.S. service members and over 150 Afghans.
“Under the current administration, we are facing numerous conflicts globally, and we are closer to nuclear war than we have ever been,” Gabbard stated. “This is a significant reason why I am dedicated to doing everything possible to get President Trump back into the White House.”
Meanwhile, Trump attended a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery to honor the 13 service members who lost their lives during the U.S. withdrawal, and later spoke in Detroit, attributing the situation to Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden, whom he blamed for what he described as a “disastrous” exit from Afghanistan.
“The humiliation in Afghanistan was caused by Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, resulting in a collapse of American credibility worldwide,” Trump declared during his speech to the National Guard Association of the United States.
A 2023 review by the U.S. State Department criticized both the Trump and Biden administrations regarding the withdrawal process, according to reports from Reuters.
Gabbard’s perspectives on foreign policy are heavily influenced by her background as a combat veteran, consistently reflecting her anti-interventionist views. She has openly criticized U.S. involvement in conflicts such as those in Syria and Afghanistan, and has opposed military assistance to Ukraine.
Additionally, Gabbard has reportedly been aiding Trump in preparation for an upcoming debate with Harris. The two previously had a notable confrontation during the 2020 Democratic primary before both ultimately endorsed Biden.
