Vance’s Denial of Trump’s 2020 Loss Reveals His Opportunistic Nature

Opinion: Vance’s denial of Trump’s 2020 loss reveals his opportunistic nature

At this point, election deniers are akin to bigfoot enthusiasts and 9/11 conspiracy theorists. They’re all just a little off.

JD Vance has clearly stated that he does not believe Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election.

Therefore, I am openly branding Senator JD Vance of Ohio a despicable liar and an opportunistic fool who wouldn’t recognize reality even if it hit him square in the face with a pie.

Recently, when asked the simplest question imaginable regarding Trump’s 2020 loss, Vance responded in a perplexing manner.

The answer, which should be crystal clear, is yes. Trump categorically lost to Joe Biden. That’s precisely why Biden is the president and Trump is not.

This is also why every legal challenge and Trump’s relentless hunt for evidence of voter fraud ended in utter failure. And it’s the reason Trump faces federal charges for his attempts to overturn the election results.

JD Vance’s refusal to admit Trump lost illustrates his weakness

When asked how he would respond to the question, Vance began, “Regarding the 2020 election, I’ve addressed this countless times. No. I think there were significant issues in 2020.”

He continued, “So, did Donald Trump lose the election? Not exactly in the terms I would use.”

What does he mean by “the terms I would use”?

What alternative phrasing could he possibly choose to acknowledge he isn’t a complete denier of the evident truth?

A vice presidential candidate who can’t face reality? That’s Vance!

This whole situation is so absurd, it’s hard to put into words. We know that the GOP presidential candidate is reluctant to admit his loss due to his overly sensitive ego.

Yet, now Trump’s running mate is fully engaging in the swamp of election denialism, which is quite amusing when one looks at what Vance has said in the past.

Back in 2016, at an Aspen Institute panel, Vance voiced his worries about how extreme rhetoric from right-wing media was undermining trust in elections, stating, “The delegitimization of election outcomes is something I greatly fear, and it has lasting repercussions.”

He had previously described Trump as “anti-conservative” and “anti-American” and claimed, “Trump is an awful candidate and, honestly, a terrible person.”

If only the JD Vance of 2016 could hear his own words from 2024; he wouldn’t believe the nonsense he’s currently spouting.

When pressed to acknowledge Trump’s loss, Vance evades the question

In a recent podcast with The New York Times, Vance was asked five times to acknowledge Trump’s loss, but he dodged the question each time.

The irony is that Trump did lose the election. Anyone who isn’t swept up in MAGA loyalty or has had their common sense eroded by a former reality TV star understands that Trump’s defeat is both real and documented.

If reporters were to ask Vance whether he thinks the moon exists and he responded with a no, it would represent the same level of absurdity. There is currently no distinction between election deniers, bigfoot enthusiasts, and 9/11 conspiracy theorists. They’re simply eccentric.

Perhaps individuals who disregard facts shouldn’t hold power

I don’t aim to sound alarmist, but I believe a person who’d reject simple truths, like 2+2 equals 4, just because Donald Trump insists it equals five, isn’t someone we should trust with power.

Remember, Vance directly addressed whether Trump lost in 2020, and he stated, “Not by the words that I would use.”

At this juncture, we should be less concerned about the specific words Vance chooses. It’s evident that none of them can or should be taken at face value.
