Walker Buehler: Dodgers Ace Falls Victim to Unintended Robbery at Santa Anita Park

Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler was ‘unknowingly’ robbed at Santa Anita Park in September

Walker Buehler, the starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, had his watch stolen during the last weekend of the 2024 regular season, as confirmed by his agency, and law enforcement is currently looking into the matter.

According to KABC, both Buehler and his spouse, McKenzie, were robbed at Santa Anita Park racetrack located in Arcadia, about 12 miles east of Dodger Stadium. While additional information about the robbery has emerged, Excel Sports Management, which looks after Buehler, mentioned that he was “unknowingly” robbed on the weekend of September 28-29.

“After Walker’s last regular season appearance on September 27, he and several other players chose not to fly to Colorado for the last series. That weekend, Walker and McKenzie attended horse races at Santa Anita Park. While they walked from the paddock to their seats, Walker fell victim to a snatch-and-grab theft of his watch without realizing it. The police have been informed, and the situation is under review. We are thankful that neither Walker nor McKenzie was hurt, and Walker remains focused on the upcoming playoffs,” the agency’s statement declared.

KABC initially misreported that the robbery occurred during the recent weekend of the MLB playoffs before making a correction.

Buehler has a deep passion for horse racing, influenced by his upbringing in Lexington, Kentucky. He developed a partnership with renowned horse trainer Bob Baffert, who encouraged him to buy a share of a racehorse named Authentic, which won the Kentucky Derby in 2020.

The Dodgers pitcher is set to take the mound for Game 3 of the National League Divisional Series on Tuesday against the San Diego Padres, with the series currently tied at 1-1.

Throughout this season, Buehler has started in 12 games, achieving a record of 1-6 with a 5.38 ERA.
