Revolutionary Benchmarking Breakthrough Tackles the Toughest Quantum Challenges

Predicting the behavior of many interacting quantum particles is a complicated process but is key to harness quantum computing for real-world applications. Researchers have developed a method for comparing quantum algorithms and identifying which quantum problems are the hardest to solve. A Generational Divide: Millennials Favor Political Harmony with Neighbors

Many Americans Prefer Neighbors with Similar Political Beliefs – Especially Millennials

If you consider yourself fortunate to live among neighbors who share your political beliefs, or if you’ve thought about relocating because they don’t, you’re not alone.

A recent survey by Realtor.com indicates that almost 25% of Americans feel that both local and national politics greatly affect their housing decisions, with this sentiment being even more pronounced in certain age groups.

Danielle Hale, the chief economist at Realtor.com, stated, “Given that both local and national leaders make choices that impact everyday life socially and financially, it’s natural for many individuals to seek out communities where the political landscape aligns with their own perspectives.”

According to the survey, only 38% of participants feel that their political views are compatible with those of their neighbors. Additionally, the disconnect in political beliefs is significant enough that 17% have considered moving as a result.

This figure rises to 28% among millennials, who are also the most likely demographic, at 33%, to say their living choices are influenced heavily by national politics. In comparison, 25% of Gen Z and 21% of Gen X describe politics as a factor in their housing decisions, while only 16% of baby boomers share that view.

Hannah Jones, a senior economic research analyst at Realtor.com, remarked, “Many millennials may find themselves contemplating what kind of community they wish to settle in as they consider home buying and establishing roots.”

“It’s understandable that millennials prioritize residing in places where the majority shares their political beliefs more than any other age group,” Jones added.

The survey indicated that liberals are somewhat more inclined than conservatives to factor political views into their living choices, reported by 30% of liberal respondents. This is compared to 27% of conservatives and just 18% of moderates.

Not surprisingly, about 48% of those who frequently vote believe their political views are in sync with their neighbors, contrasted with only 30% of occasional voters and 18% of those who don’t vote.

The obstacles facing Americans in finding affordable housing, both rental and ownership, have turned it into a major topic in presidential campaigns. State-level housing policies are also under scrutiny in several notable legislative initiatives.
