Aaron Judge Hits 50 Homers, Leading MLB This Season
Aaron Judge’s incredible season continued as he smashed two more home runs on Sunday, bringing his total to a league-leading 51, and it’s only August!
In the Yankees’ 10-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies, Judge became only the fifth player in MLB history to have three or more seasons with 50 or more home runs. He joins legends like Babe Ruth, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and Alex Rodriguez.
He reached this significant milestone in the first inning against Rockies pitcher Austin Gomber, hitting a powerful 431-foot home run that landed in the left-center bullpen, giving the Yankees a 2-1 advantage.
Later, in the seventh inning, Judge launched his 51st home run during a sequence of three consecutive home runs by the Yankees off Rockies reliever Jeff Criswell, extending New York’s lead to 7-3.
As of Saturday, the hot-hitting Judge became the first in MLB history to maintain at least a .375 batting average alongside 45 home runs over a span of 100 games in a single season.
Judge is on track for a remarkable total of 63 home runs this season, potentially surpassing the American League record of 62 that he himself set in 2022.
Moreover, Judge has made history by becoming the first player to record at least 50 home runs, 120 RBIs, and 100 walks before the arrival of September.
