Ariana Grande reacts to negative remarks about her health and body
Ariana Grande has found herself at the center of body-related speculation for quite some time, and she has once again confronted her critics, labeling their comments as “horrible.”
Crazy Sally asked, “How do you handle the beauty standards (from) critics, since it’s such a heavy burden for women to always seem flawless. How do you manage that?”
The “We Can’t Be Friends” artist responded, “Since I was about 16 or 17, I’ve felt like a subject under a microscope. The pressure from that noise has lived in my life since I was 17, and now I just don’t let it in anymore.”
She elaborated, “I’ve encountered every variation of criticism about my body, only to fix it and still hear new criticism.”
Grande acknowledged that this issue affects everyone, from ordinary individuals to celebrities, stating that it’s challenging to shield oneself from such negativity.
She commented, “Even during family gatherings, when someone’s grandma says, ‘Wow, you look thinner, what’s going on?’ or ‘You look heavier, what’s wrong?’—it’s uncomfortable and terrible, no matter where it happens.”
Grande remarked, “Nowadays, there’s an alarming ease with which people comment on others’ appearances, health, and how they present themselves—whether it’s about clothing, body shape, or facial features.”
Ariana Grande previously addressed fan concerns about her body
Earlier in April 2023, Grande addressed her fans’ worries regarding her body in a TikTok video, explaining that “health and beauty can be expressed in various forms,” and that her former appearance was “the unhealthiest version of my body.”
She explained, “I was taking many antidepressants, often mixing them with alcohol and eating poorly, and at that point in my life, I was at my lowest when people deemed me ‘healthy.’ But that was not, in fact, a healthy state for me.”
Grande urged her followers to remember, “You never know what others are going through,” and cautioned against making remarks about other people’s bodies.
“Even if you mean well, that person might be working through their own issues or have a support network helping them,” Grande advised. “So please be kind to each other and to yourselves.”
Ariana Grande shared an emotional moment with Drew Barrymore while discussing fame
During a recent appearance on “Drew,” the “Wicked” star opened up emotionally to fellow former child star Drew Barrymore. In the segment, “Silly Questions,” Grande expressed her deep respect for Barrymore as an influential public figure.
Grande said to Barrymore, “I’m not fully aware of your experiences in this industry, but I’ve seen what you’ve openly shared, and I must say it can be quite unpleasant at times. Your strength, compassion, and ability to maintain that childlike wonder are truly commendable.”
Barrymore, visibly touched, told Grande she has always been a fan and expressed pride that her daughters love her as well.
“You’re an incredible person, and your journey through this film (‘Wicked’) and in life shows that even in dark times, you still uncover beauty,” Barrymore added.
