Armie Hammer Sells His Truck to Cut Expenses Following Cannibalism Controversy

Armie Hammer has been candid about his current financial difficulties.

The actor seems to be experiencing financial strain due to his reduced work opportunities amidst his alleged cannibalism scandal.

“Since returning to LA, I’ve put around four or $500 worth of gas in my truck, which I can’t afford,” Hammer mentioned in an Instagram video shared on Tuesday.

Looking back, Hammer, now 38, recalled the truck he bought as a Christmas treat for himself in 2017, saying, “I’ve cherished this truck, taking it camping and on several long road trips; I took it for one final journey to CarMax.”

The star of “Call Me By Your Name” has opted for a more economical choice by downsizing to a hybrid car. “I got a new, smaller car. I’ll probably only spend about $10 on gas a month,” he explained.

Additionally, he has made some lifestyle changes, including moving to a “new apartment” back in Los Angeles after spending several years in the Cayman Islands.

In July, Hammer addressed the serious allegations of cannibalism and sexual misconduct from 2021 directly.

During an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” he admitted to branding Paige Lorenze but insisted that it was a situation they had discussed prior.

Lorenze, in January 2021, spoke to Page Six about their allegedly abusive relationship, including claims that he carved an “A” into her skin.

“For some people, this might seem very odd. To others, it might seem like a romantic act,” he commented.

He added that “everyone has different sexual fantasies” and described his actions as part of BDSM and role play.

In March 2021, another individual, known only as Effie, accused the actor of rape and assault during a four-hour incident in Los Angeles in April 2017. Local authorities looked into the allegations but ultimately chose not to file charges due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

During his conversation with Morgan, Hammer claimed that Effie was the one who introduced him to several of his sexual fantasies, asserting she orchestrated the alleged events.

At the time, she refuted claims of consent, stating, “He raped me. He lied extensively in this YouTube video, and he was not fact-checked. He constantly seeks to shift blame onto his victims.”

His accusers have also alleged that he spoke about wanting to eat their body parts.

Courtney Vucekovich, who dated Hammer for a few months in 2020, told Page Six in January 2021, “He said he wanted to break my rib, barbecue it, and eat it. He mentioned, ‘I want to take a bite out of you.’ If I had a small cut, he’d want to suck on it or lick it.”

“You need to actually eat someone to be labeled a cannibal,” Hammer remarked to Morgan, adding that his comments stemmed from a desire for intimacy with his partners.

He further commented, “It’s not unlike when someone sees a baby and thinks, ‘Oh my goodness, those adorable chubby legs, I just want to eat them up!’.”

In June, Hammer reflected on the impact of the scandal on his career while appearing on the “Painful Lessons” podcast.

“My entire life fell apart. I lost all my representation, lost all my job opportunities, lost everything. Initially, it felt like the worst thing ever. But upon reflection, I see it differently now, with a healthier mindset,” Hammer stated.
